Brgy. Sinogbuhan: Forgotten Scene

Last February, We are so lucky to avail the promo of Cebu Pacific Air, we only paid for P456.00 for 3, but of course we still need to pay terminal fee of P200/pax, scheduled last week June 30th.

I, Roy and Mamy Elymar arrived in Iloilo City International Airport around 6:00 in the morning, a wet and cold Thursday for us and seem to be a brand new place to explore, hired a Taxi to San Joaquin, around 170 kms from the Airport, we paid P1600 total, but usually P1400 said by the locals. Then in San Joaquin we hired a Tricycle to Brgy. Sinogbuhan, 20 kms from the Town, we paid P250.

My cousin’s husband welcomed us to the said barrio, around 1,000 in total population, not crowded, no public transport available, and nothing but nature..

We’re about to visit my cousin’s house.

Before we reach the place, it’s a long trek for us; we need to pass 2 bridges made of bamboo and 4 hills and 4 rice fields, too far from the main road, around 5kms.

Until we reached the Nipa Hut, alone in the middle of rice fileds.

When you go to Wikimapia.org, try to search “Sinogbuhan” as keyword.

This place with no electricity, water and stores currently my cousin’s shelter for the last 18 years, too far from everything.

I hope that the Government will do something for those people here to reach the convenient place for their living.

We are so lucky to have almost everything around us, but for them….

More updates about this to follow......
